Kissing Frogs
Sometimes life is about kissing frogs. It's not easy being
a princess, when your duties are so many and so curious.
We went to a statue yard this week-end and we bought
some home. The only one they had that looked like me,
was kinda ugly. So it really didn't look like me.
The only dachshund statue they had didn't look like Camo.
So we got a big gnome, a St. Francis ( for our pet cemetery)
and some huge woven baskets for the front porch.
We may go back in the Spring and look at some frogs
and benches. Not this frog....oh no...not this frog!

I wish I could sled in the house
It's beginning to look like Christmas in the house.
The tree is up and they added a new decoration that
looks like me. I am under the tree waiting for
the doggie treats that always appear in my presents.
Nobody trust us and they don't put out the presents
till Christmas morning, otherwise we would be snacking
on the treats, all the time.

It's not me!
It's not me.
Her name is Little Bit.
Lot's of people around here call me Little Bit,
but that's not my name.
It's a pet name for a little mixed dog that a lot
of Southern folks use.
When Mommie saw her, she called her Little Bit
and the lady said how do you know her name?
Little Bit is almost twice my size but she could be
mountain kin!

He is being good, just waiting to be noticed.
Hello People! ......I can't operate door handles, so one of you

Now, if Camo was as smart as me, he would walk

Today is Camo's 3rd Birthday!
He went fishing this morning with Dad and later we are
going to have a campfire and roast marshmallows.
Mom says he will even get more treats to eat than normal.
The only things Camo really likes to do is fetch sticks from the
pond, eat anything and everything and bug me.
Happy Birthday, Bro!

Out for a Hike
Some people think little dogs don't like to hike.
WRONG! Little dogs love to hike, it's the absolutely best
thing for me to do.
I always have places to go and chipmunks to chase.
You should come to the mountains this summer and go for
a hike. No matter where your mountain is, it's going to
be cooler than the valley. I love my mountain and I
love to go hiking on a new path.

Pet Nanny wins 1st place with ME!
The Fourth of July was tons of fun. We were in the parade.
As the local paper said:
"Taking trophy's in the vehicle category were--1st
place Mesha's Pet Nanny convertible with huge stuffed dogs
(and Mesha's live , little fluff of a dog in her arms under
the umbrella) (that's Me!) and one animated dog
singing "Puppy Love"."

Never leave your best friend behind
Here's a dog tale that we should all take to heart.
It's kinda long but worth the read.
A man and his dog were walking along a road.
The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred
to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him
had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road.
It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch
that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw
a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl,
and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.
He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at
a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked. Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.’
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked. 'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed.
There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book. 'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.' They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked. 'This is Heaven,' he answered
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.' 'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.''
Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

I'm getting a JOB!
I am going to be a Therapy Dog.
My first day is this Thursday at the local nursing home.
I'm going to wear a pretty dress and put on the smiles.
I hope the love me.
I thought you might like to read about the first therapy dog named Smoky.
Yep, she was a little Yorkie!
History of the Therapy Dog from Wikkapedia
During World War II, under combat operations against Japanese forces on the island of New Guinea, an American soldier found a young adult Yorkshire Terrier abandoned on the battlefield. Unable to care for the dog, Corporal William Wynne bought the female "Yorkie" and named her Smoky.
Smoky's small size enabled her to become a hero by helping engineers to build an airbase at Lingayen Gulf, Luzon, a crucial airfield for Allied aircraft. Early in the Luzon campaign, the Signal Corps needed to run a communication wire through a 70-foot long pipe that was eight inches in diameter. The pipe passed beneath the landing strip. Dirt had fallen through the corrugated pipe, filling as much as half of the pipe, giving Smoky only four inches of headway in some places.
Wynne tied a string (itself attached to the communication wire) to Smoky's collar and ran to the other end of the pipe and called Smoky. The little yorkie crawled her way along the 70-foot long pipe into the arms of Corporal Wynne.
Smoky’s work prevented the need to move 40 fighter aircraft while a construction detail dug up the taxiway. This would have placed them in jeopardy from enemy air bombardment. What would have been an extended construction job, was accomplished by this little dog in minutes.
Her service as a therapy dog began when Corporal Wynne was hospitalized for a jungle disease. As Wynne recovered, Wynne's Army pals brought Smoky to the hospital for a visit and to cheer the soldier up. Smoky immediately became a hit with the other wounded soldiers. Dr. Charles Mayo, of the famed Mayo Clinic, was the commanding officer who allowed Smoky to go on rounds and also permitted her to sleep with Wynne in his hospital bed for five nights. Smoky’s work as a therapy dog continued for 12 years, during and after World War II.
The establishment of a systematic approach to the use of therapy dogs is attributed to Elaine Smith, an American who worked as a registered nurse for a time in England. Smith noticed how well patients responded to visits by a certain chaplain and his canine companion, a Golden Retriever. Upon returning to the United States in 1976, Smith started a program for training dogs to visit institutions. Over the years other health care professionals have noticed the therapeutic effect of animal companionship, such as relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, and raising spirits, and the demand for therapy dogs continues to grow. In recent years, therapy dogs have been enlisted to help children overcome speech and emotional disorders. The concept has widened to include other species, such as therapy cats, therapy rabbits, therapy birds and so on.

Baby Raccoon
My mom is on her baby animal streak.....
This baby raccoon might steal your heart.
Three baby raccoons were rescued by
an exterminator and give to a wildlife rescue lady.
The babies are only a week ago and are cuter than a bandit.
I didn't get to see them, but I thought everyone would like
to see them before you see them climbing in your garbage!
Yes, I am getting a little jealous with these baby critters.....

Kit in our woods
There are two kits in our woods.
Little tiny babies.
Our parents went out on the tractor for a drive down
our big path thru the woods, and saw Mom Red Fox and her
two little kits. They were playing and eating a chicken.
My mom and dad took 50 photos of the event, so you
will see more in her posting this week.
My mom said the kits are very young, maybe a month
old. As they get bigger they get more color, now they
are just a gray color that blends well in the woods.
She says they look like a cross between kittens and a Yorkie.
So now, we are on hyper alert for Camo and me.
We don't want to be invited to dinner....as their dinner. Yikes!

Of course, I wasn't counting or looking at him.

Smells of critters, small than me and wild things bigger than me.

I was wicked on Saturday
I am still wearing my Halloween costume in this picture, because I was wicked.
On Saturday,I was home alone with Camo and I heard fifty gun shots.
It scared me, so I took off.
We have a large yard that is all fenced in, but I have a secret escape place.
I squeeze through a small space by the gate.
I took off down the highway for half a mile, till I saw some men sitting on their porch.
I went up to them and jumped on their lap. They were really nice to me.
They gave me a piece of baloney and saw my tag and went to call my folks.
My folks got back from their outing and couldn't find me. So they both took off in their cars looking for me.
Mom went down the same road that I took 2 years ago, when I ran away from gun shoot noises.
She said she was looking in the ditch, when she almost drove past me sitting on the porch, all by myself.
I don't know why it took her an hour to get here.
She was so happy to see me, she cried.
The old men, who were in full camouflage gear said they called my house, but their cell phone service drops off.
So Mom was just lucky again to find me.
The old guys mentioned they heard 50 gun shots near our area.
So now Mom knows why I took off.
Mom said she would make the hunters a cake, as a thank you.
They didn't shot the shots that scared me.
She made a white chocolate cake, and we delivered it the next morning.
I got scolded a lot that afternoon; something about traffic, cars, trucks, motorcycle and me on the same road.
Dad fixed my secret escape place, so now I might have to find another one.
Or they can never leave me alone again, during hunting seasons.
I hate the big boom and I just go off looking for people.
Camo stayed home and wasn't in trouble.
This is the only thing I ever do wrong, but boy I guess it's a big one.

This week end we were four
My cousins from Illinois drove down to visit us.
I never knew I had cousins, but we all got along really well, except
for me and my Alpha attitude.
Even thought, I am small, I am in charge.
It took Kandi and Maisy, some time to figure it out.
Frankly, they could care less that I was in charge of the week end pack.
We had fun at the river on Saturday.
We ran around and went swimming.
We all had chewies, that nobody wanted to share.
Camo was in his glory, because we were all girls, except for him.
He can be quite a show off, when it comes to the ladies....
Kandi, my cousin
Kandi, is part Poodle and part Bichon Frise.
She is one smart little dog.
Mom says that mix is the perfect circus dog.
Kandi never swam, till we went to the river on Saturday.
She learned to swim to the floats and she seems to love it.
She lives near a beach and she should go often during the rest long hot summer.
Maisy, my cousin
Maisy is a fourth month old Black Shih Tzu, who loves to steal everyone's chewies for herself.
I have to admire the kid, she gets away with it most of the time.
Right now, she is littler than me. About 5 lbs.
She is softer than me and I hate to admit, she is sweeter than me.

Sweeter than Honey
Honey won 5th place at the Mutt show for Best of Show.
She is still a puppy and this was the first time she wore a dress.
Mom had an extra dress in my buggy and we put it on Honey ( she is my neighbor) and
she was a huge crowd pleaser.
She struted her stuff in the ring, like she was a pro.
Honey should go to real dog shows, because she lit up the crowd.
By the way, her trophy was 4 times bigger than mine!

Sewanee 4th of July Dog Show
This year was a big year for us.
We had a very special little girl as our handler.
Her name is Daisy.
Isn't that a lucky coincidence!
She showed Camo and I in the same contest.
At the last minute, I opted out of the littlest dog contest.
There were much littler dogs than me.
I did what I do best, I show offed in the Best Dressed Contest.
Camo went as the All American Hot Dog.
I went as the Dog in Pink.
Guess the winner?
Hint, Camo is still a wiener! ( not the winner)
The Mutt Show Ring
Here we are strutting our stuff.
Daisy, my special friend handler pushed me around the ring in my pink buggy.
The crowd loved it.
The Best Daisy Day
We won, we won, we won.
First Place for Best Dressed Dog.
I knew the pink buggy was a great accessory.
Somebody told my mom, that I looked like "Doggy Barbie"
Now, I have two trophies from the Mutt show.
It was great having Daisy as my handler.
I think the judges liked having Daisy showing Daisy Mae.
It was a great Daisy Day!

We are ready to celebrate
Camo and I are ready to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Today, we are going to get in the way, while our folks build a float for the parade.
When we look this cute, they have to pet us.
We are going to be in the annual Mutt Show.
I am going to be entered in the littlest dog contest.
Camo is going to be in the Best Dressed contest....he is going to be the All American Hot dog!
Wait till you see his costume.
Mom went and bought bar be cue food for the 4th of July.
I will be begging for my own hamburger.....wish me luck.

How Little do I Look?
This is my new pink party dress, which I haven't really worn yet.
I think I am going to wear if for the littlest dog contest on the Fourth of July.
I have entered the contest twice and the best I ever won was second place, even though.....
a puppy usually wins.
It's a little dog contest, not a puppy contest.
If I wasn't so polite, I think I would tell the judges that!
So this year, I plan to wear a little dress and not puff my fur up.

In the good ole summertime
In the good ole summertime, Camo likes to swing in his swinging bed.
That dog sure knows how to relax.
If he could drink lemonade, he would have a glass in his paws.

The great outdoors
I like the outdoors best when the sun shines and the air is cool.
This has been a very good June.
Lots of sun and I get to go on many walks.
Can you see me between the ponds?
Mom is out of her cast, so she will be back to taking pictures.
Big party this week-end at our house.
I have a new pink party dress!

I'm okay,it's that my Mom
I haven't posted in awhile.
I'm okay but my Mom broke her elbow, her right arm.
That's the one the feeds me and pets me and also takes pictures.
We still go for walks and I still pose for her, but it doesn't do much good if she doesn't have her camera.

Wrestlemania in the grass
Camo and I wrestle in the grass.
It's great fun.
The grass is as soft as a bed,
which is important because we spend most of the time rolling around.

MY profile
I look rather good from the side...don't you agree.
Lately, I am rather bored with picture taking and look away from the camera.
And then I found out that I look good no matter which way I look.

I'll Party when I want to
Last Friday, Mommie had a girlfriends party.
I was a big hit.
Camo was there too....but he was pretty shy.

He is getting Hairy!
Camo's hair is really growing.
It must be because it's Spring.
He will have a lot of low hanging hair that might touch the ground.
He is so low to the ground that Mom won't have to dust mop the house anymore.
I will just chase Camo around the house and he will catch all the dust bunnies!

Blue Berry out and about
Blue Berry is a little blue bird that lives in a big cage in the kitchen.
Now that it is spring, she gets to hang out in a little cage on the porch.
She can listen to all the wild birds.
Camo and I don't find her very interesting,
unless she drops some food from her cage that we can eat.
She is much smaller than me and I think that's good.

May Day
What a beautiful day!
I stopped to enjoy the purple flowers.
I like these Carpet Bugle flowers because they are my height, just 6 inches from the ground.
You go out and smell a flower too...right now... your nose needs a good sniff.

Dad is done with his cap
It's official Dad is done with his construction hat.
It went into the trash and Camo fetched it out.
He thinks there is still some life in that old cap.

Introducing James Brown
Look who our newest neighbor is!
He is James Brown with his mother, Gracie.
My mom took this photo, when he was only 12 hours old.
He is a Tennessee Walking Horse and he was born Thursday evening.
We can see him from our house, but Camo and I haven't been over to visit yet.
Just our Mom and Dad have visited.
They brought an apple and carrots for his mom to eat.

Tulips, my view from the porch
Most of the time, if I am outdoors, I just sit on the porch.
This is my view today.
The red tulips are mom's pride and joy.
Besides, me of course!

Drinking the pond
Camo has turned out to be a water dog.
I don't think Dachshunds are suppose to be water dogs, but this one is.
He drinks from the pond when he wants to and
he will jump into the pond just to fetch a stick.
How silly. We have sticks all over the place and they are free.
I know. They come from trees and we have trees all over the place.
If they were throwing hot dogs into the pond, maybe I would go for a swim.
But for a stick...no way!

Daisy and Honey down by the pond
Honey came over for a visit.
We went investigating for fun and mischief down by the pond.
That puppy is already bigger than me, but just by a hair.

Like a Parakeet
In the new house, the couch is in the middle of the room.
It is my new place to perch.
I can see everything from here.
I guess I did learn a trick or two from our bird.

Doxie April Fool
When you are a dachshund every day is April Fool's.
Camo will believe anything I tell him and try anything I ask him to do.
I told him that if he doesn't like taking a bath in the sink,
he can jump into this dog washing machine and it goes much faster.
Too bad, I'm too little to push the buttons. Ha Ha Ha !
Pull a trick today...it's the best day to fool a Fool!

The nose knows fun
Camo finds fun.
He sticks his nose in to everything.
He helps Mom unpack the boxes and he almost becomes one.

Whose's the Baby?
I'm the Baby.
It's Camo talking now and I have a lot to say.
I know it's Daisy Mae's blog, but sometimes she talks to much about me and doesn't say the nicest things.
I am not a Devil Dog.
I'm the baby...she can't handle that.
I look like the baby, I will even wear the pink cap to prove the point.
I will be the baby till another dog comes along and they have to be younger and smaller, at least at the beginning.
Other than that....I have nothing much else to say.
I really love it here, love my folks and my friends from the blog and I love Daisy Mae too!

Doxie Devil Dog
This is Camo at his worst.
Look at those scary eyes......
He just gutted another one of my toys.
I know it's my toy, because we had it a long time before we had him and it's pink.
He just chews up the dog toys and revels in his glory.
He has too much fun being bad!

Three in a Tub
I got into the bath too.
The tub is almost big enough to practice our dog paddle.
